The Rio Grande Valley Interpreters for the Deaf (RGVID) is a non-profit organization of professional Interpreters, students, consumers and interested persons. RGVID is the state chapter of Texas Society of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.

RGVID purposes shall be concurrent with those of TSID, which are:
• To promote the development and expansion of quality interpreting/transliterating services available to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing;
• To encourage the recruitment and training of professionals in interpreting/transliterating;
• To promote the highest standards in the interpreting/transliterating profession;
• To train and encourage those who are interested in learning to communicate with people who are deaf/hard of hearing;
• To offer forum for professional interpreters/transliterators for exchange of ideas, opinions, and information concerning interpreting;
• To offer meetings whereby members can learn, upgrade skills, and participate in group activities;
• To unitedly support legislative interests and concerns of the organization;
• To disseminate information concerning legislative action and current events on the local, state, and national levels.
